CPEC and Maritime Security discussed during CSSPR’s seminar

An enlightening seminar on China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and Pakistan’s maritime security capabilities and challenges was held on April 16, 2018 at the UOL’s Centre for Security, Strategy and Policy Research (CSSPR).  Anti-submarine and Missile specialist, Commodore (Retd) Naveed Ahmed, and Surface Warfare specialist, Capt. Bilal Ahmed Sana both from Naval War College, Lahore, were the day’s presenters.

Capt. Bilal highlighted the importance of Pakistan Navy and the role of Pakistan Fleet in safeguarding the maritime sector against traditional and non-traditional threats faced by Pakistan at sea. He tackled the value of sea power and elucidated at length about Pakistan’s maritime interests.

Cdre (R) Naveed Ahmed engaged the audience on the seaward threat to CPEC and why CPEC route needs security through Pakistan Navy.

The seminar which ended with a great session of Q&A, was very interactive and attracted SISS students and teaching staff, CSSPR research associates guests from UMT, and other organizations.
