Dr. Ashfaq Ahmad becomes Pakistan’s First Ambassador for UK Laser Therapy Program

The Director Academics, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences (FAHS), Associate Professor, University Institute of Physical Therapy (UIPT), Clinics (UPTRCs), and Centre of Research in Physical Therapy (CRiP) at The University of Lahore, Dr. Ashfaq Ahmad becomes the  first ever ambassador for UK Laser Therapy program from Pakistan. This achievement follows a series of hi-tech trainings that Dr. Ashfaq has recently attained in UK. The two certification courses are; Anne Penman Laser Therapy Training Course for Smoking Cessation, Weight Reduction and Stress Management from Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom and THOR Laser Therapy Training Course for Musculoskeletal Pain & Tissue Healing from Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom. Dr. Ashfaq’s Ph.D work has added a significant contribution to the existing knowledge. His main area of interest was to heal partial tear of tendon with the help of Low Level Laser Therapy. To further strengthen his skills of laser therapy, he recently completed the above mentioned international certifications.

Speaking to the Spectacle Newsletter on March 13, 2018 Dr. Ashfaq expressed gratitude to UOL’s Executive Management for availing employees with opportunities to upgrade their professional careers. “I am so grateful to the University administration for all the support rendered to us as academic staff to advance our skills and expertise,” he said.

The Associate Professor of physical therapy has experience of establishing clinical and academic setups of physical therapy in renowned organizations and universities of Pakistan. He is determined to take his academic specialty to its peak. “I am privileged to have been the first Ph.D holder in the area of Physical Therapy holder in Pakistan. This qualification was a combined interaction and collaboration with many highly qualified foreign experts,” he said.

Dr. Ashfaq has more than 17 years of academic, clinical, research, and administrative experience with over 40 research publications, he is the Chairman, Board of Directors, Pakistan Physical Therapy Association (PPTA), and he is also a Member of the National Curriculum Review Committee, Higher Education Commission, Pakistan. He is a visiting consultant to the UOL Teaching Hospital, University Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Clinic-Raiwind Road campus, UOL, and Lahore Medical Complex.
