UOL Maiden Olympiad arranges over 35 events

CARE Foundation hosted Content Writing Challenge

The Mechanical Engineering Society hosted the UOL’s First Olympiad, with various societies on board. It was held from April 19-20, 2018 and attracted students from various universities across Lahore as well as from UOL.

The three-day long event was filled with exciting moments as over 35 events were conducted successfully. CARE Foundation UOL Chapter headed by this writer, on April 20, 2018 conducted the module of content writing. This particular module was aimed at testing the knowledge of current affairs, critical thinking, and ability to voice impactful opinions to the readers. “Facebook-Cambridge Analytica Scandal: How secure is our social media presence?” was the topic for English writers and “Will the Supreme Court work under its constitutional options?” was for the Urdu ones. The Spectacle Newsletter Managing Editor, Mr. Abdulhamid Mpoza adjudicated the English content and Mr. Ali Abul Hassan, a SOCA lecturer and member of The Spectacle Editorial Board assessed the Urdu writing.

Following a tough competition amongst the participants, Sami Tariq (LBS) and Laiba Fatima (DPT) emerged as the winners in the English and Urdu categories respectively. The winners were awarded with shields as well as cash prizes.
